| Three species of endangered sea turtles - leatherback, green and hawksbill - come home to the Virgin Islands to nest. The period from June to November is turtle nesting season. During this time, extra precautions must be taken when enjoying the beaches of St. John. Boaters should proceed cautiously. Sea turtles are not fast swimmers and speeding boats can injure them. This is all part of proper reef etiquette. | |
